The Associated General Contractors of America was founded in 1918. It is a national nonprofit trade association representing more than 33,000 firms, including 7,500 of America’s leading general contracting companies.

The  Waco Chapter of AGC was founded in 1946.  In 1978, the name was changed to the Central Texas Chapter to better reflect service  to  Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Falls, Hamilton, Hill, Limestone, and McLennan counties. The Central Texas AGC office remains located in Waco, TX.

When you become a member of Central Texas AGC, you also gain membership to the AGC Texas Building Branch, which works on our behalf at the state capital, and AGC of America, our national chapter that provides a wealth of member benefits (be sure to create your login on their website!) You also gain access to the Texas Construction Careers Website, where you can find workers and post job openings.

AGC - Texas Building Branch

Located in Austin, the Texas Building Branch serves as a support office for all AGC building chapters across the state. It belongs to all members and functions as their office in Austin. The Building Branch maintains constant contact with state agencies that impact the construction industry, including regulatory agencies, awarding authorities, and executive offices. It also ensures that AGC has input on Attorney General opinions affecting the construction industry before they are issued.

The Texas Building Branch publishes a complete bonds and liens manual, which includes sections on private work, public work, and federal work. It distributes information to chapters and contractors about legislation that affects their business. The Branch coordinates support or opposition to bills and has sponsored legislation important to contractors—such as laws related to interest on retainage for public works, revisions to public and private lien laws, prompt pay, sovereign immunity, cost of goods sold, and the statute of limitations that limits contractor and subcontractor liability on completed projects.

AGC of America

When you join Central Texas AGC, you also become a member of AGC of America, gaining access to a wide range of national benefits. The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) is the nation’s leading construction industry association, representing more than 26,000 firms—including over 6,500 of the country’s top general contractors and more than 9,000 specialty contractors. In addition, over 10,500 service providers and suppliers are connected through AGC’s nationwide network of chapters.
