Central Texas AGC Connects and Advocates in Washington, D.C.
Central Texas AGC President and CEO Grayson Huskey and Board Chairman Mike Ballerino traveled to Washington, D.C., for the AGC National & Chapter Leadership Conference, held September 27–30. The trip provided an opportunity to connect with chapter leaders from across the country, exchange ideas, and represent Central Texas construction on Capitol Hill.

A major value of the conference was the opportunity to learn from other AGC chapters. Conversations focused on strengthening member engagement, developing future leaders, and helping contractors navigate a changing industry. These exchanges bring fresh ideas back to Central Texas and help us continue building a stronger chapter for our members.

Conference sessions also explored the growth of data center construction and the importance of contractor succession planning. Discussions highlighted how rising construction demand creates opportunities beyond individual projects, including supporting infrastructure, while increasing the need for a skilled workforce. Succession planning sessions emphasized preparing the next generation of company leadership well before a transition takes place.
During the trip, Huskey and Ballerino visited Capitol Hill as part of AGC’s broader advocacy efforts. Fellow Texas AGC chapters and the Texas Building Branch were also in Washington, reinforcing the importance of an engaged and unified construction industry.

Decisions made in Washington affect the businesses and communities we serve at home. Federal policies influence infrastructure investment, workforce availability, regulations, and the conditions under which our members operate. Staying engaged helps ensure that the experiences and concerns of Central Texas contractors remain part of those conversations.
We returned with new connections, practical ideas, and a renewed commitment to serving our members. Through collaboration with fellow chapters and continued engagement at every level of government, Central Texas AGC is working to strengthen our industry and the communities we help build.
