At Central Texas AGC, we believe in building more than projects. We believe in building people, skills, and strong communities. That commitment was on full display as our members came together to contribute more than $20,000 in support of the Proposition 1 campaign for Texas State Technical College (TSTC).
Proposition 1 establishes the first-ever endowment dedicated to workforce training in Texas. This historic measure will allow TSTC to expand campuses, strengthen programs, and prepare more students with the hands-on skills our state needs to keep growing. From electricians and plumbers to masons and contractors, the impact will be felt across every corner of our industry.
We are proud to recognize the AGC member companies who contributed to this important effort:

Understanding Proposition 1
What is Proposition 1?
Proposition 1 creates the first-ever permanent endowment dedicated to workforce training in Texas. The endowment will fund the capital needs of the Texas State Technical College System, allowing TSTC to expand campuses and strengthen training programs across the state.
Why is this important?
Texas has long needed more investment in vocational and technical education. Proposition 1 ensures that more students can receive hands-on training for high-demand careers in construction, electrical, plumbing, and other skilled trades.
Does Proposition 1 raise taxes?
No. Proposition 1 does not raise taxes. The endowment is funded by money already set aside by the Texas Legislature. The interest from this endowment will be used to support TSTC’s growth, making it a sustainable investment without new costs to taxpayers.
What happens if Proposition 1 fails?
If the measure does not pass, the funds that were designated for the endowment will return to the state budget and may be spent elsewhere. This would be a missed opportunity to invest in the long-term growth of Texas’ workforce.
Why This Matters
For years, Texas businesses and trade associations have asked lawmakers to make long-term investments in workforce and vocational education. Proposition 1 answers that call by creating a permanent endowment to support TSTC’s mission of providing the training that fuels Texas’ economy.
This is not just about funding. It is about preparing students for meaningful careers, strengthening our communities, and ensuring Texas has the workforce to keep building a stronger future.
Looking Ahead
Central Texas AGC is proud to stand alongside our members in supporting this important initiative. With more than $20,000 raised locally, we are contributing to a campaign that will have a lasting impact on students, industry, and communities across Texas.
Proposition 1 will be on the ballot this November, offering Texans the chance to invest in the next generation of skilled workers. Together, we are building more than projects. We are building the future.
