Central Texas AGC Advocates for Construction Industry at Texas State Capitol

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Thursday, March 6, 2025 Waco, Texas – On Wednesday, March 5th, 2025, the Central Texas Chapter of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) proudly represented the region's construction industry at the Texas State Capitol during the 89th legislative session. AGC leadership, joined by board members from Pearson Construction, Mazanec Construction, and Rogers O'Brien, met with key legislators from the Central Texas region to advocate for policies that support infrastructure investment, workforce development, and economic growth.

"Construction is the backbone of Texas, shaping our roads, schools, and businesses. It's essential that we work alongside our legislators to ensure policies reflect the needs of our industry," said Grayson Huskey, President & CEO of Central Texas AGC. "We appreciate the dedication of our legislators in keeping Texas strong and their commitment to addressing the issues that impact our workforce and the future of construction industry."

These advocacy efforts are part of a broader collaboration with the AGC-Texas Building Branch (AGC-TBB), a statewide trade association led by Corbin Van Arsdale, former State Representative and mayor of Cedar Park, Texas. AGC-TBB represents the commercial construction industry and has worked diligently since its incorporation in 1973 to protect and advance the interests of commercial builders across the state. Central Texas AGC, along with other regional chapters, partners with AGC-TBB to ensure the collective voice of the construction industry is heard and represented at the state level.

The meetings at the Capitol focused on critical industry topics, including workforce shortages, infrastructure funding, and regulatory challenges affecting contractors and builders across Central Texas. Central Texas AGC remains committed to advocating for policies that foster a thriving construction sector and contribute to the state's economic success.

The organization looks forward to continued collaboration with state leaders and fellow AGC chapters to ensure a strong and sustainable future for Texas construction.
